Itinerary:
Day 1 (L, D)
Beijing-Gubeikou-Jinshanling 
Guide will pick you up in your hotel at 9:00am, then drive to the town of Gubeikou, which is located 146km north of Beijing past the ChaoheBridge. We will continue driving for a further 1km up state expressway 101 before getting off to start our trek. Walking eastward along the old city wall, you will see how sizable chunks of bricks have been removed by the locals, making the Great Wall look somewhat naked and exposed. As we begin to make our ascent, you will see numerous watchtowers and walls that have not yet been restored to the level of the other Great Walls. We will trek further east until we reach a military area. Here we will descend the Wall and walk along a path for 1km or so until we are off the confines of the military area. Once again on the Great Wall, we will head east, until the Wall descends into a valley and then curves uphill again. This is where the Gubeikou Great Wall meets the Jinshanling Great Wall. Stay overnight in Jinshan Guest House.
Day 02 (B, L)
Jinshanling-Simatai-Beijing
The trek will be much gentler after the Jinshanling Great Wall. The Simatai Great Wall lies on steep mountain slopes in MiyunCounty at the northern border of Beijing. The stretch at Simatai retains the original look of the Great Wall built during the Ming Dynasty, and is considered by many as the most beautiful stretch. After breakfast, we will walk to WangjinglouTower (WatchingBeijingTower), the highest point of Simatai. We will climb a near-vertical 'Heavenly Ladder' for 100m (328ft), after which we will reach a narrow 30cm (11.7in)-wide obstacle wall separating the XiannulouTower from the WangjinglouTower. By the end of this trip, you will certainly have felt the historic grandness of the Great Wall in its original forms! We will drive back to Beijing late afternoon.
